Here I am on the Athabasca River, not far from the city of Jasper in Alberta, Canada. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to fish as I still had a date with the Bow River near Calgary. But it was enough for a few rainbow trout.
The nature around Jasper is just breathtaking like in many other places. If you have the opportunity, just have a look there.
How elite is fly fishing still?
Actually, angling is the term that combines almost all possible variations of non-commercial fishing. Fly fishing is only a very small part compared to other types of fishing.
It's not nice to get caught early in the morning. This place is just 20 meters away from the Bulkley River near the town of Smithers.

It is hard to believe what small streams in Franconia are able to build up over time. These tufa terraces were created by a small stream, the Lillach. The entire habitat around the Lillach has surprises in the area of fauna and flora.
