The Thompson River is a tributary of the Fraser River, by Wolfgang Fabisch

The image shows the Thompson River with very low water levels.

The Thomson at low water

The water is low and very clear, not good conditions for fly fishing. However, the river is usually closed under these conditions.

One of the most famous places in Vancouver - Canada, by Wolfgang Fabisch

Canada Square, Vancouver Canada

The most famous place in Vancouver?

Actually, it almost doesn't matter when you visit Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. Okay, good rain gear is a must in the winter time. You should also always have an umbrella with you in summer. Whatever the weather in Vancouver, there's always something going on.

One of the best steelhead rivers in BC

If you see the rivers in BC / Canada in spring, you can be frightened! Fishing is not feasible, but is not as bad as most sea-migrating species are not yet in the river. Here the Bulkley River

Lots of animals on the way to the north
I've been in British Columbia many times, but never before so far north as on this trip to the Yukon. Already on Highway 37 we had some encounters with bears. Further north we saw moose and other animals.

10 years of review, British Columbia 2007 - Un petit examen des 10 dernières années en Colombie-Britannique

10 years of review, British Columbia 2007
Deutsch: Nette Steelhead aus 2007.Ein kleiner Rückblick auf die letzten 10 Jahre in Britisch Kolumbien.
English: Nice Steelhead Back From 2007. A small review of the last 10 years in British Columbia.

The scenery in British Columbia is stunning, but after more than 30 trips to Smithers you are very open for alternatives. Here I describe one for the section Hope in the direction of Spences Bridge.

The main reason to visit Terrace is the Copper River for fly fishing. Unfortunately, the Copper is often brown by the frequent rains, so the visits are rare.

How it all began, fly fishing for Steelhead in British Columbia

In October 1989,  two friends and I sat together after grayling fishing. Our topic: The pretty dead time of fishing after new year. Shortly before, I had read an article about winter steelhead fishing on Vancouver Island, and so the talk was given. It said, in February no snow, good rise of steelhead, easy to reach with airlines like LH, KLM, Air Canada etc.
After a while of talking I ventured to hint that such a trip well would be beyond my financial capabilities.
At that time my fly fishing school runs four years with a small trade of fly fishing equipment. My two friends offered me the idea to buy several  fly fishers equipment when I use the profit for the journey.
So I ended up in February 1990 in BC. This year I will visit British Colambia the 38 time.
