The Yukon, Pelly Crossing

Weekly picture at Fabisch Fly Fishing, Week 06 -  2019

a place in the Yukon, Pelly Crossing
Pelly Crossing on the Pelly River
The drive from Vancouver to the north seems endless. Here at Pelly Crossing we are already 2700 km away from Vancouver. Nature clearly has the upper hand. Anyone who disappears from the scene here will hardly be found anywhere. This can be a bit depressing, but also a great opportunity to get to know yourself a little better.

The highways in northwestern Canada

A typical highway in northwestern Canada

Not all highways in northwestern Canada look like this. This one is one of the good ones that brings you to the end of the world. Unfortunately, there is the risk of losing his windshield by falling rocks from other vehicles, quite large.

The Area of Berchtesgaden

Weekly picture at Fabisch Fly Fishing, Week 05 -  2019
Fly fishing in Berchtesgaden
Nice mountain view in Berchtesgaden
A long time ago I was very often in Berchtesgaden for fly fishing. I have given many fly fishing lessons there. In 2017 we fished the Achen after a long break. Berchtesgaden is still worth a trip, not just to fly fishing there.

Hibernation on the Wiesent River

Weekly picture at Fabisch Fly Fishing, Week 04 -  2019

Winter rest at the Wiesent
At the River Wiesent prevails at the moment the hibernation. The brown trout have already spawned, with the grayling it will take a while until the spawning business begins.
Just over a month, then fishing for brown trout is allowed again, so fast is the hibernation over.

EFFA Open 2019 - International Fly Tying Contest

The Christmas rush and New Year’s Day being over, it’s about time we return to our normal routines. Time to think about EFFA’s fly tying event! The EFFA Open Fly Tying Competition started in 2012 and has developed into a regular event. The conditions of participation have been slightly modified for 2019.

EFFA would like to encourage tiers that don’t tie every single day to participate in our competition. For this reason professional tiers are excluded from competing. Maybe there will also be a class for professionals to compete in the future.
We still have 4 weeks to the closing date, February 17th, 2019. So you better get out your vise and start tying!

Have fun tying, and may your flies be winners!

Wintertime is service time

Check your gear
Winter time silent time?
If you're not fishing on Huchen or on the other side of the world, this is the time to take care of the fishing equipment. At the same time, one can already dream a little bit about the upcoming season.
